Default A few from south GA

Have been a couple times the last couple week to visit a friend on a plantation who has a few ponds. Missed the bedding times but found a few nice ones. Overall between my two sons, girlfriend, and I and two different days, over 100 nice bluegills, shellcrackers, and small largemouth have been caught. Used big red wigglers on slip floats and beetlespins in the solid black with yellow and red markings fished real slow or start and stop retrieve. The first day, my girlfriend hooks something on a red wiggler and after several minutes of battle it broke off. Today, she hooked another "it" and managed to hold on to it long enough for me to find a net big enough to land it before it broke off the 6 lb test...............well..................one of the biggest grass carp I have ever seen!!!! Hooked perfectly in the lip with a small lite wire hook and she played it like a PRO! Didn't have a scale to weigh it but after measuring it on against the deck boards on the dock, it was at least 44 inches and when I picked it up to release it I am guessing 25 lbs+. We got scales off it to save for her trophy and they are way bigger than a quarter.

    Here's a few pics.

Shine, those are some good size Gills. Nicely done to get them kids started right.

Yeah those Carp get pretty big. That's a nice size Grass, we got the Yao Mings of all types of carp up here on the tribs and sloughs of the Mississippi... not a good thing though.

Nice fish, shine. Wish I had the same luck.

Wife and I went out yesterday in the river and only caught two bream. One keeper and one dink. Ended up putting the keeper back at the end of the day since it is not worth bringing home just one fish to clean.
