I bought 4 of Hardstone Okuma, this is first dealings with this reel but I am here to tell you these are some good reels. With 8BB+1RB and Gear ratio 5.0:1,they are very smooth and they price about the same as the ABU Garica.

Hmmm.... I've been a Abu Garcia man for several years now. I like the way the use all metal parts, on the exterior at least, I've only ever had one fail on me. I took that one apart and cleaned up up and am still using it today. Been several years now, and I probably have 4-5 reels from them, all open face reels.

Maybe I should try shimano, but I just can't get over all the plastic stuff they use. I buy all my reels from Wally world, and that's the selection they have so that's what I buy.

If you had good luck with those you should stick with them.I didnt have nothing but trouble out of mine.I returned and exchanged twice because the bell broke off each time. The 3rd exchange and I picked up a trusty shimano.

I have that reel, ABU Garcia, 100 and I reallly like it. So smooth and from free spool/cast to wind/reel the click is so smooth. A good buy. Gaurantee will cover any problems.

When that Okuma is 40 years old i bet you won't find many parts for it.

My michael 300 just went down on me. Got it in 1962 when I got out of the army. Man has it got me a lot of fish over the years, love it and trying to find another. I stop at all the yard sales to see if I can pick one up.

I have one shimano & 2 Abu Garcia spinning reels, & I love them all, I use the shimano for pan fishing, I use the Abu Garcia reels for just about anything, crappie, bluegill, catfish, & I caught my 20 lb. striper on an Abu Garcia spinning reel.
