    What I can see it has a square looking mouth. Out hear we call them chubs, or square jaws. I never seen a shiner that big here in Idaho. Shiners here 4inches is a big shiner.

    It is a golden shiner or american shiner some of them florida guys like to call em. Take it down to okachobee and stick him under a balloon on 20 lb test and hold on.

    in the cajun country, we call them shad. and i have about 8 gallons of them (not that big) in my freezer as i type this. they are deadly on big blue catfish using them as cut bait. but i have caught them by the thousands in= my cast net. ive even caught some up to 4 pounds.

    Thats not the same as a slicker. Slickers are called skipjack herring. I thought the same thing until I fished with these shiners on Okeechobee. And yes it is an awesome thing to catch bass on a 8-10 in. shiner.
