    Default Been lately?

Anyone been fishing for gills? I have been doing pretty well at KY lake. I am usually caught up in bowhunting but decided to fish this fall. It has worked out well, I may have to rethink this whole bowhunting thing. Here is a pic of some fish from KY lake yesteday. I probably had 100 but only kept about 20 eaters. I have been catching them in 14 - 20 ft in weeds. Most of the fish actually had weeds sticking out their butts. I guess I need to hand tie some jigs that look like coontail.

Nice gills! My sons and I caught some last week 30' deep which is really the deepest water in this lake. Surprised me, not as big as yours though I don't think. Largest ones went 10 - 10.5 in.
No weeds sticking out of any orfices. I have caught fish, that you normally think of as meat eaters, with weeds in their stomach (or further along). I wondered then and still do, if they just get the weeds while eating whatever it is they're chasing, or if they eat them on purpose?
Post a picture of that coontail jig when you get it done.
Do gooder since April 26, 2009!

Went this past weekend. The water temps are starting to fall as it was down to 61*. With the cold front passing two days before we found them around wood. We end up catching 47...that number was hard to come by. Most of the time we catch 100 or so, but with the boat owner not wanting to look for deeper water we were forced to make the best out of what we were given. Most of the fish were shellcrackers.

1/3 pieces of nightcrawler. Any smaller piece and the little ones would grab it too quick.

Gamakatsu red octopus size 8. It is pretty much my standard bluegill hook. I will sometimes use a size 10 depending on bait. I like the same style in Owner as well. Whatever hook I use, it must be red. I have learned over the last 10yrs, especially fishing leeches, that the red will increase bites.
