That will never happen, cuz in my house we only have 2 rules that are set in stone.

    Rule #1: no tattoos
    Rule #2: no dating

til daddy's dead, so far it's working out very well. Then again she's only 4

Default for the deep gut hook removal

stinkies daddy and all other that have the same problem.

This is what I was instructed to buy before I started fishing in the south (1967). I was told that the bream needed a "special tool" to help remove the hooks. I have not been without it since.

I have talked to several friends that fish for bream and told them about the special tool I use, and have been playing around making a few.

As you can see my "special tool" is made from a small screwdriver. I have tried several different screw drivers and they all work very well. The most readily available screw driver that works well is an Xcelite # R184.

I heat the end of the screw driver and make the bends, then take a file and create the notch in the flat.
When using, you push the notch down into the curve of the hook while holding the line taught. Hold the tool so that the offset goes against the barb of the hook. Just push down until you can feel the hook come loose then gently pull tool and hook from fishes mouth. This should lessen the results of a normal gut hook.
I lost one of my homemade versions while juggling a bream and trying to pickup the tool. Sad to say overboard the tool went. Now I have attached a cord and have it attached to my flotation vest, THAT I WEAR WHEN EVER I GET IN A BOAT.
