We met up today around noon and waited about fifteen minutes for some guy who launched his boat , left his truck and trailer on the ramp , ran around about fifteen minutes for, then loaded back up .
But that’s not what confused us .
Gradually warming days , with a relatively warm rain the day/night before and five days before a full moon . And light winds with mid 60’s temps.
I thought we were going to tear them up .
Nope ! But it was a beautiful day to spend a few hours outdoors going through the motions.
We didn’t get skunked , I caught six total, mostly on the small side , my buddy caught four .
Everybody I talked with said folks were catching them , included crappie in the shallows .but they themselves were having the same problem we were .
I did check the water level before we left and it showed the COE had dropped the lake about a foot , I’m guessing in preparation for yesterday’s rain .
This may have pulled them away from the banks .
Wish I’d caught a few more , but I enjoy just being out there .
I fished a couple St Croix trout series , a 5’4” and a 5’6” with 2# Floroclear and an old 5’ SC panfish ULM and an old black SC Triumph 5’ ULM , both with Carbon X 1000s reels loaded with Daiwa X8 braid . I like the braid on the moderate action UL’s.
