Default Old age catching up with me .

I got to fish about thirty minutes this past week.
Figured I’d target green fish since they’re usually the easiest to catch this time of year .
I took my 6’ TFO Pastime Trout&Panfish paired with a 500 size reel . A fairly lightweight combo . My bait was a 1/32 ball head jig with a Trout Magnet Cross .
The outfit casts great . But the issue came when I started twitching my bait on retrieve.
I experienced pain in my grip, my wrist and the bones between the wrist and elbow .
I did hook a nice green fish , about 14” , fought him right up to where I slid it up the rocky bank and as I was keeping pressures on the line , stepping off the dock to lip it , the hook left go . .

Today I got a chance to fish about forty minutes at the town pond before the cold front and rain ran me home.
I was fishing with a shorter rod , a shortened Abu Garcia Mass Beat III rod paired with a 500 reel . A 1/64 TM jighead with a cross body .
I was able to fish the shorter rod without the pain I experienced earlier this week.
I’m afraid I’m going have to give up twitching with my longer rods . I think it’s the added leverage of the rod that’s creating the problem.
My 6’ and longer rods are going to be used for swimming baits and float fishing .
I need to do more float fishing. At one time, float fishing was my go to method of fishing, in small bodies of water .
    Tough getting old . .

I love fishing jigs under a weighted float. They work very well at super slow speed when water is cold and super fun still watching that float disappear. I did some twitching last trip but no luck unless it was moving slow and steady with pauses. We all getting older with aches and pains. My problem is right shoulder when I'm making longer casts. Important thing is just getting out there doing what we love for as long as we can while we still can do it.

I am quickly approaching 70 myself, hunting and fishing is becoming a bit more “memorable “ every trip .
Most of the time it only hurts later , not so much during the actual episodes
