    Default Tuesday

Got a call from a friend that got a weather day off. A bit chilly and winds at 10 , we prayed that the weather geek wasn’t wrong. He done good! Cruising fish and some shallower structures just weren’t out to play but the stuff around 20’ was holding some fish that would play. They got wise quick so we did some traveling too. Russ pulled up to a big, placed structure that showed some fish on his scope. First fish was a fattie as were most that came out of it. Just for laughs I started throwing a 2” curly tail, started with white. Couple of casts later I dropped it inside the structure and never saw it again. Guess I was helping the fish decorate. Next I put on a 16th head and another curly but this one was a glittery dark blue with a chartreuse tail. Pulled it past the side of it and got a solid thump and Russ started laughing. Said he saw something big bolt out and grab something and then he heard my drag music. Took a minute but we finally saw something big bolt color. Using one of my Fenwick builds, the 6’6”, with a Diawa Regal 1000s and 4lb braid. Well, the color we saw was green. And bigger than I’m used to on little tackle. Thankfully he didn’t make it back to his hide but sure tried a few times. Sorry, no pics of the Crappie or Bluegill but they were 12” or better mostly with very few shorts. First fish of the day was lost at boatside and may have been the big fish of the day. We fished til almost full dark, not wanting to give in. Temps hadn’t gotten out of the low 60’s with mixed clouds. Happy Thanksgiving and we’ll see you soon…..Skeet.
