    Default Been a minute

For the past couple of months I’ve been boatless. I now own two but one isnt done yet and the other had carb issues. Seems it still does. I couldn't take it anymore and the Jon was back from the doctor so off I went. Kinda cool and the boat was still empty as I take a lot of stuff out when it goes visiting. Four rods and no wind and not many boats at the ramp I was pretty pleased. Stayed back from the ramp and took off the saver and straps, turned power on and so on. I had PVC guide posts that also held a set of vertical tail lights that backed up the lights down low in case one should quit for whatever reason. Rolling to the ramp in the parking lot there’s a rough patch that I went thru and heard the boat hit one of the bumps and shift the boat. I didn’t see anything that rough but OK, I guess the trailer found one the truck didn’t. Heard the noise and looked in the mirror to see half of the upright on the drivers side dangling by the wires. I had the boat get off center while loading a while back and one of the posts bent hard and I waited for it to snap but it didn’t and I thought it was all good. Evidently not. Must’ve cracked it and the bump gave it a push just right and here I was. Cut the wires where I could get to em easy when it came time and went to launch. Launch went OK, parked the trailer and came back, pushed off and went for the start. Pulled the choke which felt like it traveled further than I’m used to seeing it go and like it had disconnected inside somewhere, no longer connected. No choke means no start. Drop the TM and go fish. In the same place as the last time the boat didn’t cooperate. And I caught a few fish just like last time. First up was a small spotted bass, nothing over about ten inches today, and all the ramp stuff was forgotten for the time being. I fished about a half mile of bank, maybe a little more’ but caught most of my fish today on about 75 yards of bank with a couple of trees along the bank. I caught 2 gills and bass before i remembered to take pics. My smallies today were full of energy and acrobatics, giving the Banshee and the Eradicator what for. A Presso 1000 rode on both with 4lb varivas braid, a real good combination that cast very well. All totaled I caught a dozen or so, really didn’t count, and just enjoyed the no wind factor that comes with early morning hours. Never got too awful far from the ramp and the wind got up a little so I started back across open water. Back at the ramp I found it a little difficult getting it back on the trailer without the post. Walked down the trailer til I ran out of plank and lost my balance when trying for the 3” rail between me and the boat. In the drink on my feet but leaning forward, I reached for the TM and my left knee got in front of one of the bunks with a pretty hard shot and my foot was too well planted to come free. Hurt like the dickens! While praying that I had done anything but hurt my pride I hurried and got it on the trailer before I ran out of what it takes to get things done before the pain takes over. Thankfully, that didn’t happen and I hadn’t broken anything but it still smarts a little. Came home and took that set of tail lights off, mostly cuz its the second time that they’ve broken. Next ones will have a steel inside with a plastic bumper over it. At least I got it home and in the yard without incident and emptied it out for its return trip to the doc to fix what they didn’t. The combo in the last pic is a Browning Airstream rod with a Shimano Soare BB with the same line as the others. Here’s a few pics of those that would hold still long enough to get famous. All in all, a good enough trip for not having been for two months. Yall get out and get you some…..Tim

And I also carpeted the floor of the Jon to cut down on noise so no more skecthy, peeling tan paint from previous pics. WOO-HOO!!
