For such a show sounds like it's worth messing with the pesky fish.

my patience the other day , they were so far past being pests it wasn't even funny ...
I only managed ONE crappie , while trying like heck to fight off them little river bream .....
that spot is known for pesky bluegill in the summer months for sure , ain't been there in a while and it is all coming back to me a little clearer now as to why ....
mind you this part , in that spot the black crappie rule , not many whites in there , and to be very sure them black crappie are WAY out there in the middle of the river ....
they about always come right to the surface on the hookset and begin to head shake with their mouth open trying to dislodge the jig ......
and this particular specimen took it to the next level of I am a part largemouth bass river crappie and got air time TWICE , the first jump was big air ,nice full cartwheel and the second jump was porpoise jump that cover several feet in length .....good stuff for sure![]()

I can't remember ever seeing a white crappie jump but the blacks will for sure and sometimes more than once. Lot's of fun when they do.

Some spots our white crappie get pretty decent air time , especially them spring run crazy fish , but in most locations, very few of either species have the get up high in the air thing going on in the deep summer months.
That said , high oxygen levels and cooler waters will surely give a fish a slightly higher chance of escape due to air time
