    Hey Charlie,
you do not need meat at all.
Get yourself some small jigs like some of the jig tiers are saying.
I kicked the meat habit a decade ago and my fishing success got way better.

tell you what, every time i have gone out this year. spring through now, the berkley nymph has been my number one producer of larger gills. Second to the nymph has been the 2" senko. I rig both on a 1/80 or 1/64th jig head. I sometimes tip the nymph with a tiny bit of worm or fish meat. I never tip the senko. I do noy rig the senko Wacky style on the jig head....just rig it straight as you would any plastic on a jig head.

    Nice gill crappiekeith,

and sticko, I'm definitely going to have to try the corn thing, I've never even heard of that.

I have better luck keeping meal worms on if you hook them rear end first and then run the hook half way through the section with the legs, because that part of it is tougher. Wax worms seem to have to be replaced more often than meal worms, in my fishing experience.

These work really well during the cold months in NJ. 1.5" paddle tail grub. I use them with a float and let the wind and chop works its magic. On calm days I will twitch it very slow and with long pauses.

I just added these to my product line 1.5"

Glad to here you found some success on the nymphs. I have found Toad to be the best producing color around here. Those little lures have really treated me well while fishing for crappie and gills. Often out producing live bait!

Anyway...I have only found the 2" senko's at cabela's online store
