Heck yea, great report.

Another shortened day at the mines so I trashed around with my queen and then dropped the boat in and went after em. First stop, first cast had a crappie in the cooler. Kept 6 from there and at least that many got a pass, either short or skinny or bustin with eggs. Let one go that was a solid pound and a half. I just couldn’t keep her. I used one of my Fenwick builds that usta be a six footer but someone broke about 5” off the tip so it went from ultra to just light action, and perfect for the job at hand. A President 25 loaded with BPS store brand four pound hi viz was the hot ticket tonite.BGBS in a new to me color of gray on the back and a light gray pearl bottom with a black or natural head with a number four hook. Had a small round bend number six, I think, on that just wasn’t holding the fish. Once I changed to a #4 sickle, problem solved. That bite shut down and I went in search of. Didn’t find any more crappie but I got a super hit and set the hook and who came to the surface but Mr big largemouth with a softball sized mouth and he promptly sent my jig back to me air mail. Like to have held and gotten the pic but I was happy to just know what it was. Kept working that bank and it drops off a bit and there’s a little more water than other places close by. A hundred feet or so down the bank I got another weird hit. Just kinda got heavy til I put some pressure on it and the fight was on. Another LMB and this one was buttoned better. Took a few minutes but got him to the net and made him famous and sat him on the ruler. Had the scale but it wasn’t out and he’d been out of the water a minute so I revived him and let him go. That’s a good feeling.
Measured close to 18” and just a bit over to keep me honest. Looked and felt to me like about three and a half pounds. I’m tellin ya I was a happy boy right about then. Kept going down the bank looking for some crappie gathered up or the big fellas cousin and got another brute on the line, but this one was different. After a few surges and me palming the spool I got a look at what it was. And where it was hooked. This one took much longer but finally came to the net. About four pounds and this one didn’t get released. He was also hooked on the back section of his dorsal. Tough fighter. Threw him on the deck and kept fishing.
Didn’t find many more and most of what I got was little but they were there in numbers.
Had to run the bow lights on the way in but all smooth. Stopped and bought some ice to keep ‘em good til I can clean the crappie tomorrow. It was a busy night that left me with a smile. The spawn is on and a few of those fish I got were showing their bellies. I hope that y’all get a chance to get a few and smile like me. Til next time, y’all stay warm ……..Skeet

Nice mixed catch Tim .
Nice bass . I had one about two pounds jump and toss the jig today myself . Guess the warmer water lately has given more energy.
I’d like to catch one of those tilapia. They look like they have an overdrive system.
Thanks for sharing!

They do Chaser. Their surges are of legend. If I don’t palm the spool I can’t slow em down.

Short sleeve weather and the fish were chewing, can't get much better than that. And a really nice bonus bass. Got out for a couple hours yesterday and caught some trout, finished with some numb hands, the kind that hurts for awhile until they thawed. Supposed to get 2-4" of the white stuff today.
