    Smile A good start

The Sunday school class had a gathering last night which included diner which is done once a month. With the spawn getting wound up I’m getting some good sized males. One thought led to another and I offered to supply the fish for one of the upcoming gatherings. The idea was well received and the group will be 25 or less. So I’m figuring two fillets per person and with the way things have been going for me it shouldn’t be long til I have enough for everyone. I had a few hours tonite and while mom snuck in a nap, I snuck down to the ramp. In at 3:30 and out at 6:30. Boat traffic was heavy and someone was close to where I normally fish so I had to stay away lest I educate them. They eventually left and I moved into place and found some fish. I lost three and another extra large sumthin that I never saw. Ended up with 4 nice crappie in the cooler and a nine inch bluegill that got a pass. He sucked up an entire Bobby Garland Baby Shad and fought extra tough. A couple of short crappie rounded off the catch and the sun got low. Home to fillet the fish I kept and get ready for the mines in the morning. Enjoy the pics and I hope you get out soon. Stay warm and healthy……Skeet

That big gill looks prehistoric! Cool looking .
I provided the filet for the church’s men’s group once . Kept, filleted , and froze ten or less for a few trips until I got enough.
On the day of the fish fry , along with hush puppies, coleslaw, and baked beans , the men attacked the food with a vengeance.
There wasn’t a filet or hush puppy left .
And I was one tired cook .
Good luck with your fish fry . The Ketching is the fun part.

I’m looking forward to it. Our slabfests hereabouts aren’t real strong right now. Good excuse to fish too.

I agree on the gill too. Colored differently than I’m used to seeing and he was thicker than most. Some of his brethren are gonna fall prey to the taco filling part of a dinner one day soon.

Nice dark colors. Good catches and nice to donate the fish for church event. Don’t catch too many to fast though, gives you a good reason to have to go.
