    Default Another couple of combos

I picked the wrong time of day to go to the pond today , but I picked a couple nice combos to fish with today. I went too early.
The wind was up and blowing constantly from the NW , straight into my face . The dam area was sill in the shade and even thought the temps were approaching fifty , the wind made it tough .
I started off with 5’6” 13Fishing Omen Panfish paired with a Shimano Soare bb 2000sspg and 2# Floroclear.
It took awhile to catch a couple of small LM bass to switch combos .
I enjoyed fishing the Omen , cast well , sensitive, and has a nice bend with a fish on . The grip/handle of this rod is my only grip . It’s heavy , but I guess that helps balance the rod with most reels . I was liking the feel of the grip until I picked up my second rod , my newest , the 6’ TFO Pastime T&P .
But today it was paired with a Shimano Soare XR 2000sspg and 2# Floroclear.
I wanted to try it with a larger spool to see if it made a difference in casting distance .
With the wind , I couldn’t tell , but I did enjoy fishing it with the larger reel .
I ended up catching five LM bass and a small bluegill .
The bluegill was caught on the sunny side of the pond . Right after catching the gill , the wind shifted and I never got a cast over 25-30’ again .
It sucks knowing 20’ farther out , there probably were more gills , I just couldn’t reach them .
If I can I’m going try and fish the next couple days before rain comes back in this weekend, then an Arctic front arrives and a possibility of another snow storm next week .
Got to go when the weather permits.

Glad you got to go. Our conditions were real good albeit cool today but the lake was glass as I came home after work. Supposed to be iffy here this weekend too. I just might sit home and tie jigs ifn I can’t get out.
