There was some kind of small fish flickering on the surface a bit , might have been baby crappie, there are no shad in there, not sure , but ….small fish dancing on the surface typically equals bigger fish near them about 99.9 % of the time …..

H is that guy , very nice and patient and loves to ketch fish , great companions are hard to come by.
He was struggling to hook up , think his jig was a bit too large , used a number 6 and a BG , I used a number 8 and a limits tackle 1.25 black and chart split tail
