Got down into the mid twenties last night , below freezing two nights in a row .
I figured the fishing was going to be tough .
The sun was supposed to come out around this morning and it warm up to fifty .
When I left home it was cloudy , 46 degrees , with an 8mph wind gusting to 17 , with a hope the sun would come out soon .
I started off with a 63 Abu Garcia Mass Beat III paired with a Shimano Soare bb2000sspg , with a Ultegra spool and Daiwa J braid .
Standing on the side of the pond with the wind almost to my back , blowing from around 4:30 I was able to cast my 4.6mm tungsten jig and mini trout magnet about sixty feet .
It took about 25 minutes to get my first bite , a decent ultralight bass that put a nice bend in the MB3 rod .
Later I attached a snap on round bobber and caught a bluegill out near the fountain in the pond .
After an hour I switched rods to a 66 TFO T&P UL , Daiwa Legalis lt 1000 combo and hooked one other fish but never got it in ,
This was my first time out in these conditions. The sun did make an appearance and it was comfortable just before it was time to head home for a late lunch .
One blue , and one green , beats a skunk !
