    Default Mixed bag trip

Got out with my son for a morning trip. Started fishing on the river about 7:30 am and shook off the skunk with a small bass and a couple whites, soon as the sun hit the water bite was done. Headed to some lakes that were stocked with trout. I was using a 1/32 duck jig with a #10 sickle hook which I tipped with a waxworm. Wind was blowing pretty good and I wanted to get deeper so I set my float deeper than normal so bait was dragging bottom. Bluegill were on from the very first cast, one after the other and even the trout were eating my little bait. Son still didn't have a bite until he switched to smaller jig tipped with a waxworm. First cast and his skunk was over with a bluegill. I ended up with about 25 bluegill and five trout. He caught a bunch of bluegill and two trout. He did get the biggest fish of the day, a 19" beautiful male rainbow. We fished until we ran out of waxworms.

Second picture from bottom is picture of my son fighting his trout. Can't get the close up picture after he caught it to load now. He wasn't much into fishing and would only fish with me a few times a year. This year he caught the bass bug in his mid thirty's, better late then never. Wife bought him a bait cast combo for his Birthday next week. Maybe I'll get mine back now.

A real good trip. I haven’t used my BC in a long time. This cold front that just came through here has taken us into the forties this morning, gotta be cooler than that up there. Any time with your son is always good.
