Default Wire grub-grip on jigs - worth adding!

Granted, many don't think it's worth the time or effort to add it since most anglers would just as soon use barbed jigs that catch and hold plastics or use glue to hold them close to the jighead. Problem is when changing lures the lure is pretty much useless because the plastic inside comes off in chunks. Recently I used the grip on a 1/24 oz jig and caught 34 fish on one lure: Crappie Magnet.

    Method if anyone is interested:
24g coated floral wire nail nippers or wire cutters

Line up wire as shown to the
line tie shaft making sure the
end it near the curve of the hook wrap one side tight once cut close
    around the shaft

use the pliers to make an L in the remaining wire

the wire I make a bunch and sort
them by weight and hook size

Swing the wire into the plastic and it holds forever. Changing lures does zero damage.

If I must buy lead barbed jigs, I flatten the barb, cut around it and then cut it parallel to the hook on
    one side to remove it.

Thank you so much for the very practical and helpful posts that you make. Hints like these are often the difference between
a bad and a good day for a lot of us!

Man, you just made my day - big time!!!

Being house bound due to recent high winds and wind chill factor, all the lures I want to try out sit in my tackle box. It gets a bit depressing at times knowing winter is just around the corner, so I post and watch out for others' ideas that may be of use on a daily basis.

There is this one forum in California I posted on quite a bit in the past that added to my depression. My passion for fishing and sharing tackle-related ideas, most times, either went without reply or as in this one case with ridicule, sarcasm and insult that was supported by his fans.

No one in my local fish & game club or in my American Legion Post see fishing as anything more that dunking a lure and hoping something will bite. Many mostly target bass for tournaments whereas I'm a strike junky no matter the species. When not on the water, for most, it's out of sight out of mind.

Moderation on most forums, and especially on c.com, is vigilant in making sure disagreements stay civil and let the readers make up their minds as to the potential of ideas and experiences presented in good faith meant to help fellow anglers. Needless to say, I deleted as many of my posts and replies on that forum that I could and thanked those few by pm that shared the same ideas and experiences - or at least considered mine like on c.com and a few other forums I post on.

    Thanks again,
    Much appreciated!
