Good trip. Thanks for sharing

I woke up this morning, it was 39 degrees outside with a wind from 12-24 mph .
I waited until noon , it was a balmy 53 degrees with a wind chill of 50 .
Last night I spooled a Daiwa Legalis LT 1000s with dark green Daiwa J-braid and attached a 6-7’ leader of 4# Floroclear. I swapped this reel for the 500 size reel that was on my Major Craft Finetail 4’10” Glass rod , tied on a chartreuse/black 4mm tungsten jighead and added a pear shape snap-on weighted float .
I had decided to try the Town Pond out for a little while hoping the little rod would cast the float n jig far enough to get out where I thought I might get bit .
I was surprised how far the little rod cast the float rig . Actually father than I was casting with the longer rods with 3# Floroclear line .
Some cast were easily 25-30 yards . I was fishing new water .
I setup in the sunlight near the little walk path bridge but was having to cast into a cross wind which gave me a big bow in my line .
First cast I missed a fish because of the slack line .
I fished that area for about 15 minutes , catching a shellcracker and a decent bluegill , then packed up and walked 2/3rds around the pond and set up with the wind at my back casting parallel to the dam .
A good spot , and I caught several bluegills and a couple more shellcrackers.
I moved on around the pond , back to my original location and catch a 10-11” large mouth and a couple more bluegills.
I checked my time and I had fished for an hour and forty minutes and caught 3 shellcrackers, 9 bluegills, and the bass .
I found out , sometimes the wind can be your friend, and a short rod can fish a float n jig without any problems.
And the dark green braid wasn’t affected by the brown pond water like the gray braid I’d used before had .

That’s a good looking little jig and a good trip. Conditions were less than ideal and you did fine. I’d like to go to the coast this weekend but I think the wind will put the squash on that. Hope you get out again soon. At least you can get to the water. It’s so high here that I don’t think I’ll be able to fish for near a month so enjoy and think of me.
