Susan and I headed to Lake Poinsett State Park to do a little fishing and check out Harrisburg. It is an hour and eleven minute drive…..68 miles. But it is a trip I’ll be making again as soon as possible. I have not caught quality bluegill like these since fishing Laurel Hill back in its glory days of 2009-2011. This was a day that you savor as you don’t know when another one like this will come along. Susan was on the net to land my fish. Using VARIVAS ES2 Lemoni line in 1.75# test you needed both hands on the rod. Action was steady for the 5 hours I fished. Did not keep count but it was a lot of fish. Just spot locked the Mighty White Marine Special and sat in same place…never moved. Got a lot of lake left to explore. Used a Trout Magnet in Bison, Sow Bug, and Root Beer Float colors. Rod was once again the FineTail Banshee 6 foot SUL. All of these fish put up a heck of a battle. Excited to get back up there and concentrate on shell cracker. I was keeping the jig up about 3 feet off bottom and while I caught a few my presentation was not the best for shell cracker. Going to make a good video.
