But my eyes popped open about 5, never to close again. Might as well do something. I was already connected so I put the rods of the day in the boat and strapped em down and off I went. Nino was going to meet me at my office so I didn’t hurry and just eased around on the glass smooth water and looked for my day to start. It took a little bit for them to wake up but I was pleasantly surprised with my first fish.
I don’t get many of these and it’s good to see a juvenile. I never get the babies like some of the other folks do. They weren’t active like they were two weeks ago and it seems that the Warmouth are done bedding cuz they weren’t in any of the places I found them just a short time ago. Thankfully the coppernose were in a good mood and I found a few of those, one here and another there.
And the little fellers kept me busy too, this one had some better than average markings.
There was enough caught this day to make me smile. Could’ve gone home about 9:30 and been happy with the day but Nino caught up with me so I stuck around. I hadn’t hit all the cover and left some for him to work his way through and he was having a good time pickin pockets and catchin plenty. It got up to about 11:30 and I was hungry and it was plenty hot. Wrapped up and got some needed wind in my sweaty hair to cool off some. And the trip wouldn’t have been complete if the last fish didn’t have whiskers and warmed up the drag. This one was 18” and tough. He got measured and put back but he could’ve been someone’s dinner, he looked just right. Thanks for coming along and I hope you get out again soon. Til next time……Skeet
