Checking pictures on the net , I’m pretty sure the mystery fish is a flier . But according to what the state Fisheries Department put up , it shouldn’t have been where it was .
Here’s what I found :

“ Habitat: Sluggish lowland habitats such as swamps, bayous and other weedy water. Often one of the most common recreational fish in very acidic waterbodies, such as the Okefenokee Swamp. Rarely found in flowing waters.”

And it was definitely in flowing waters .
I’m not complaining, I love catching odd fish .
This is only the second flier I’ve ever caught .
I was around 10 or eleven when I caught my last one , over sixty years ago . But I remember it like it was yesterday.
Caught out of pond in South Georgia while my family and I was with my grandfather on my mother’s side .
I caught it with a bobber and hook with worms . Yep , at one time I used live bait . LOL !
