You can get the distance with light baits on long rods, by going to braid. Guess what I just bought? I ended up getting 5lb. Power Pro braid because that is what they had locally. Some how I ended up walking out of the store with 7' Sam Heaton Super Sensitive UL and another Diawa Legalis..... Just what I need, another ultra light! I fish rivers near me and have gotten to the point I fish smallmouth, walleye, and everything on UL and Light. Occasionally I will step up to a ML.
