I’m thinking you are correct. But we caught some back in the eighties and nineties from the canals mussel beds around the Santee Cooper and Lake Marion areas that were huge and they tasted very well. I would think the cooler water may have kept the meat firmer. We made several trips over there for big catfish before the crappie started bedding here in middle Georgia.
