To be completely honest, I stumble into them. I’ll pick a piece of shoreline that looks fishy and start picking it apart. I don’t end my casts early and work them at a slow pace almost all the way to the boat. I’ve found them 30’ or more off the bank on a flat or ledge, crappie too. The solo fish you find doing that are just icing on the cake. I’m sure you’ve already been told that there’s no better teacher or way to find them than time on the water. I’ll add to that the fact that I learn and notice more when I go by myself.
