This morning it overcast, with winds 2-10 with gusts to 23mph and 46 degrees . A projected high of 48 .
I bundled up and drove the four minutes to the town pond equipped with a couple of St Croix rods and a 1000 size KastKing Zephyr SFS Spin Finesse System ultralight reel loaded with 3# P-Line .
I took my fishing stool and planned on fishing a float n jig rig while trying to stay warm .
I know you northern guys would think 46 is balmy, but down here , to a 70+ year old it’s down right cold if the suns not shining.
I started out with a 6’6” Triumph light rod using a 1/200th Trout Magnet jighead with a 1.2” black ice wiggler body under a 3/4” snap on bobber about 3.5’ above .
After catching a nice bluegill and a small shellcracker I retreated to my vehicle, warmed up while swapping rods to my four piece 5’6” UL rod .
Using the shorter and lighter rod I caught two more bluegills and another small shellcracker
.
All of the fish were still colored up , especially the shellcrackers .
Two hours was my max . But it was good to get out and good to catch something.
