Rained most of the night and part of the morning.
Weatherman is calling for T-Storms to start around 5:30 this evening and with lunch in between, I got to fish between 11-1 .
Fish are strange , what works one day , is ignored the next .
Last trip , they wouldn’t touch one of my spiders , but when I put on a woolybooger jig , Bam !
Today I started with a woolybooger. I got a couple tail tasters , but no takers .
Switched to a spider on the drop shot and changed location to the other side of the pond . Bam ! I catch a decent shellcracker.
Guess the pond robbers missed one the other day .
A few casts later I catch a small LM , a few more casts and it’s time to head home to put the ribs in the oven .
Combo today was a 7’ St. Croix Ultralight paired with my new Ultegra 2000S .
Last night I changed out the line for some SOS 2# .
I don’t know if it was the noodle action of the long UL or the SOS line , but I wasn’t getting the casting distance I expected with the longer rod .
If I get a chance to go back this evening, if the weather folks are wrong, I’ll give the SOS , Ultegra a try on a shorter rod . I may have gotten spoiled by 2# P-line .
It’s been awhile since I’ve fished the seven footer SC . I don’t care for the noodle action it has .
I’ve noticed that in the longer SC ultralights, those over six foot .
