I've been catching them about 20 feet from the bank suspended about 5-6 feet from the surface of the water with nightcrawlers on light-wire aberdeens.
Good luck!

Guys, where is my best bet for finding shellcrackers this time of year? They spawned the last week or so of April, and I have only seen a few in the shallows since then. I know they will be deep, but how deep should I look? And what will be the best technique for catching them during this 90 degree weather?

If you've got fishin' fever, I've got the fishin' PLAGUE!
Find deep water humps around 15 to 25 ft. fish on bottom sometimes they will be on top of the hump and sometimes on the ledge but the ones you'll find usually will be good ones. This works on our local lakes
