You want to use casting spoons, however some jigging spoons can also be used for casting. Very good for when fish are deep, retrieve VERY SLOW, stop and go or steady and can be fished off bottom also.(would be good for the perch you are catching ) I changed all mine over from treble to single hook which also is good if you are adding plastic trailers, which I often do. Good idea to add a micro swivel to avoid line twist.Attachment 409765 Attachment 409766 Suggest you watch videos and read articles on using casting spoons for panfish and perch. Thanks for the help. My perch pond is going to be closed on October 31st - 2nd Saturday in April, but with trout stocking starting up for the fall, I figured that spoons would be a effective lure to learn

Nice fish. Interesting to hear about the spoons. I've used them rarely and only recall catch a bass with one in recent years.

Nice fish and pics of the fishing ground and your little friends. They grow large here, some big like a basketball. Thanks for the education on the spoons and gear. I always looks but not knowing much about them Ive shied away from them. I’ve got a couple that are too light for me to cast.
