All my little line rods are braid and I run a piece of clear mono for the abrasion resistance so on those I’m no help. My beetle spin rods are hi vis 4lb mono and I catch a good amount using them. also, my water is tannic stained and looks like dark iced tea. In your shoes I would have to find active fish and throw both at em and find out for myself.

I'm leaning that way. I love to slow crawl the lure back to me no cork. So I like the hivis to see it jump. A d hate using leaders. I stink at tying them. Whats y'all's go-to knot to the them

I’ve been using leaders since 2009 and the knot I use is the 3 turn surgeons knot. I have landed 30 pound drum on 2# test line with that leader knot. It is rare for me to lose a fish on a break off. The knot is easy to tie and I am all about easy at this stage of my life….LOL.

I have taken a black sharpie marker and colored the first few feet of hivis braid. Don't know if it helped the fish not seeing the line but it made me feel better

Thats kinda what I'm looking for I guess. Is a feel good thing or confidence Bream fishing....my partner uses clear 4#mono and if I use hivis 4# mono/no leader he can out fish me.
Thanks guys for the knot suggestion and the video. I had been using the double uni which is tough with my eyes. I will definitely learn this knot today and use it tomorrow

Line diameter affects lure action - period! Not important when using live bait (though I would still shy away from using 40# test).
I use a double uni knot for my leaders and they can become tedious when they break off too often. I’m going to try the surgeons knot posted above, looks like it might be quicker and easier.
