Count it down to the desired depth. Then bring it back with a slow, steady retrieve.

I'm using a weighted bobber to cast out .I'll put the jig 12" below the bobber.I'll give the reel a couple of slow cranks then pause . This action gets the jig to raise then fall slowly which seems to trigger the bite.
