Sounds like the older Daiwa SS 7000 reels have different reel seat specs than newer spinning reels. I mounted a Shimano Sedona with 3lb test on my son's TSS and he was making decent casts with a 1/32 oz jig up to 50ft.
The TSS is a great deal, if you break the tip Trout Magnet will send you a replacent upper for $9.95 (probably more now).
If you watch Randy's video, another great feature of the TSS he points out is the Airwave guides by American Tackle. Everything I've read is very positive on those guides and they do seem to increase casting distance with light lines. I plan to buy another one for myself for packing and small creeks, the TSS is alot of rod it's price.

Yea for the price you can beat it. If it breaks you don’t have to cry. Fished it again today and was throwing beetle spins as as as I wanted.
