green sunfish on one side for sure , possibly bluegill on the other .
for whatever reason when those 2 cross they often have a red tipped ear and EVERYONE automatically says redear cross
for sure its a hybrid though and not a straight run sunfish and yes sir them hybridized sunnies FIGHT well.
I have a pond full of bluegill / green sunfish natural crosses I been fishing in for years .
    my 3 cents

I had to look that fancy word up. It don't exist and then I realized it was just a simple typo mistake. Then I educated myself and then I decided to disagree with you but respectfully of course.

because I ketch hundreds of them in a large pond that ONLY has greens and bluegill and they hybridize like crazy in there typically look highly similar to that fish
of course depending on how many times they cross and what the percentage of outward appearances they retained from either parent it can vary tremendously
but for sure one of the parents/grandparents on that fish is about positively a green sunfish.....
the other side could be something other than bluegill maybe red ear or pumpkin seed or some other sunfish as the ear flap is really vibrant
but note the color on the straight green sunfish ear flap ….it reddens lots more on the crosses in Texas waters….just saying
one thing for certain , once they cross that line its a toss as to what the appearance will be and most especially down the road a few generations …..
