I recall it was 1985, my freshman year in college and I met these blonde twin sisters....wait, wrong story, let’s try again.

The Majorcraft Finetail 6.3UL has become my favorite bank fishing rod, hands down. The last couple weeks have been tough with rain, wind, falling and rising waters..blah blah, excuses I know. I have caught a few fish on the sporadic trips in the afternoon, not a lot but they have all been corralled with the Finetail. The shortest rod in the stable, but the most fun with the most bend. I have been using the “Human Hair” Sunline, 3lb, and it is a challenge within itself. Jury is still out, but I am having success with the Scott Bunch knot, braid to fluorocarbon leader. It is holding, not slipping, and I am getting a little better at it. I think it is just a variation on the 3 turn surgeons knot. Anyway, enough rambling let’s see some Finetail Fish.

Several small specimens were caught as well, these made the cut.

The next trip proved just as fun. It will handle the big fish, they just dictate where they want to go.

Rising waters, had to hike through the woods to find clean water, and fish.

Fun this rod is, but the bank fishing days are about over. Snakes, bugs, and poison ivy will put me in the boat for the rest of the spring and summer, the rod will be on board in the rotation. Stay safe out there.
