Muddy Muddy Night
Vincent Van Mudhole painted a little known work on our area lakes this past week and titled it The Muddy Night.

This is what my fishing hole has turned into, a muddy foamy mess. 8 inches of rain this month will do that, and raise the lake level 15ft really quick. Anyway, I just had to get out and wet a line, been 8 days since my last trip, and I wanted to try out a new bait. Via way of Alphahawk and Va CrappieMan, I was fortunate enough to get a couple packs of the new TM color, Greenie Weenie! Talking about a bright color, this small bait has an almost glow about it, and the chocolate milk colors of our water right now seemed to be a logical proving ground. After work I eased down the mud slick banks and immediately hooked up with my first of many fish on the new color.

A small Largemouth, but a hungry one. Tipped with the White Berkeley Waxie, the TM just seems to glow. Light conditions were low, it was cloudy and getting dark but the bait stood out nicely. A couple casts later....

The White Bass decided they wanted in on the action, and I found them literally stacked up in a small Eddy created by the swirling waters. I stuck 12 real quick, nothing over 10in but a stretch in my line is better than nothing. The stick up you see in the second picture had a few Specks hanging around it, and they seemed to dig the Greenie also.

No Panfishing trip is complete without a Gill, and the small ones that found the offering in the muddy water were also impressed and committed to the TM.

I switched to a Chartreuse Waxie and had similar results, everyone was digging the new color.

Here is a shot on my jacket sleeve.

None of these pics were color enhanced or edited for brightness or saturation, the bait just is that bright. Thank you to mentioned members Alphahawk and VaCrappieMan for getting me these baits. They do catch fish in muddy waters, but I suspect they will catch fish in many other conditions also. When they are released, pick up a couple packs, I do not think you will be disappointed.
