Interesting about fish coming over the spill gates. The majority of the black nose crappie below Center Hill came though the spill gates. About 3 years back.....long before I started a YouTube channel......a nephew and I fished the same spot after an unusually wet winter and they had been spilling for weeks. We took home 2 limits of crappie....30 fish......with the smallest being 14 inches and many were 15-16 inches. They were stacked in there like cord wood. Both of us were fishing the Ice Cube Rockin’ Drift with 2# test line. I could miss my bet but I am thinking....hoping....my son and I will get them big time Thursday. We have had days where we limited out on big crappie and then hit those waterfalls and have fun catching around 100 brook trout in the 10-11 inch range before heading home. I would fish the Caney much more but it is a difficult place for me to launch a boat by myself. There have been past years where we got into some 10 inch bluegill in that cold water. You never know what you are going to hook into up there.....50 pound stripers cruise those waters in the winter on a regular basis.
