Spent 8 hours on the water today catching chunky medium size bluegill. Started out in the lake....no bedding going on anywhere. Juvenile shellcracker seemed to be all over but after about 2 hours of them I pulled out and put in below the dam. Found bluegill stacked in a tree in 15 feet water. So I just spot locked and proceeded to catch somewhere around 100 of them. Switched back and forth between a super UL rod and an UL rod. Had a ball. Oh......had a 17 inch largemouth that wanted to play also. Name: IMG_0436.jpg

Size: 62.1 KBAll fish caught using 2.1# test ester monofilament line...a 1 gram jig head and a Sow Bug colored Trout Magnet. Going back in the a.m. as weather doesn’t look the best rest of the week. Last year got into huge bed of shellcracker on 9 May......by 11 May they were all gone.....or fished out. I did not find another shellcracker spawn at Nickajack other than the spawn on 9 May. The full moon in May last year was on the 29th. The full moon this year will be on the 18th. Like most I watch the moon but none of that is set in stone. What I can tell you is I did a lot of scanning in the lake today and did not find any beds. I’ll keep looking but sometimes if you’re not on the water everyday you can miss it...it can happen and be over quick.....as last May.

Regards
