My son’s baseball tournament was cancelled at the last minute so we had a little free time on our hands this morning. We fished a buddies parent’s small pond with guarantees of catching 10+ inch bluegill. Well, we threw everything that we had at them for 3 hours and caught over 50 sunfish, but no 10 inchers. We did catch a few that were right at 9-in but nothing bigger. Funny thing was my buddy didn’t know there were some cooper nose in the pond. The sunfish in this pond were not bedded up yet (similar to local lakes). It looks like not much spawning occurred during the April full moon in Arkansas. These fish were caught on standard bass pro light action rods, Abu Garcia Cardinal reels, and 2-lb (really 3.5 pound) SOS line. Can’t wait to see the difference of the new gear on the way! Lots of fun packed into such a short trip. Here are a few of the prettier fish. Wish they would have been a little bigger though.
