My Queen needed my help getting some things ready to sell next weekend at a big sale at a local flea market. I got a limited access kitchen pass and ran to the river. In at 7 out at 10 and just in time, the ramp was getting busy. Fishing was off compared to last week and I was kinda confused for a little while. I came around a corner and there was my answer, or what was left of it. In their esteeemed wisdom, the state had been back and sprayed the floating weeds. It will probably take a couple of weeks before it gets back to something close to normal. I did get a few today in spite of everything, the first one a nice 7” CNBG that sucked up a surface popper delivered from my 4wt fly rod. I hadn’t figured out the bite yet and it was slow so I went back to the spinning rod. 4 good bluegill like the two in the pics and a few crappie between 6 and 10” came around, and the topper was a nice 14” LMB that I had absolutely no control on for a good while. Good thing he stayed in the deeper, open water. Everyone got a pass today, except me after I got home. Worked in the shop getting things painted and sanded. With a little luck I’ll get everything set by next weekend. Hope y’all got out and stretched a line or two. It was nice and quiet and being serenaded by the turkeys and owls and all the other river birds was just what I needed. Til next time.....
