East Tennessee experienced high winds, rain, and winter time thunderstorms last night which only added to the mess the lakes are in right now. Chores were on tap today and work started on the business end of the wood splitter early.
?
Some very stubborn pieces and the warming sun started the wheels turning about an afternoon bank trip to the lake. I stacked some seasoned split wood in the back of the truck and hauled into the basement for the next couple weeks supply, quickly cleaned up my mess and readied the weapons for the afternoon battle.
?
With supper in the crockpot I arrived at the lake about 5pm to find the creek flow swift but not too muddy. Immediately a nice Gill whacked the Trout Magnet.
?
Not a monster but a fun fight. Several small ones joined the CPR party and a nice little bonus Sunfish (Green or Long Eared) took the bait.
?
No Crappie showed up this evening but the last couple fish were fooled by the Lunkerhunt Spade Grub tipped with their White Larvae. A couple nice 7in fish stretched my line right before dark.
?
?
In hopes of a Crappie bite right at dark I switched to the Lunkerhunt Fish Bone Grub and scored my biggest Gill of the night, an 8in bruiser that preferred the larger bait profile and pulled drag like a champ.
?
A busy day, a productive day, and a great way to start the New Year....catching Panfish!!
