When the fish is stripping drag from a spinning reel and pulling the line across the spool edge, I try not to reel to keep my line from twisting, then I reel mainly when the fish stops pulling to gain ground. I also notice from your intro you are going to a stiffer rod for the next trip, but keeping with the 2lb line, mono SOS I think. Does this line not twist as much or more when your drag slips and you continue to reel? Management issues on the spool is the main reason I am going away from mono completely on my UL rods. Those Kentucky bass are good table fare also, keep a few of the smaller ones and baptize them in some hot oil.
Thanks for watching and the comment. This “ester” mono twists bad. I know like everyone else...don’t reel when a fish is pulling drag. Here’s my problem. When using super lines...which this stuff is a super line....I keep an extremely loose drag. It is hard to reel and keep drag from slipping....especially on those heavy fish. I don’t have that much of a problem with the SOS line....but I keep a tighter drag using it. I could use some 2# test fluorocarbon line and pretty much have the same setup as with the polyester mono.....but I can’t see the 2# test fluorocarbon. I think I saw on one of the Japanese websites some sinking braid....may give it a try.
