I can’t tell you about copper nose in Alabama.....but I highly suspect you would have to find them in a private lake. Copper nose are native to South Georgia and Florida. There is only one public lake I know of in TN that has them......and they are few and far between. They do not do well stocked outside their native range........unless they are put on a heavy feeding program......and even then they do not measure up to the copper nose that California has stocked in some of their lakes. Richmond Mill has them in North Carolina.......a private lake that you can fish for I think it is 600 bucks for 4 hours. They spend a lot of money feeding those fish and they do get big. Lake Perris in California....and Clear Lake....and maybe some others there....have them in abundance and due to the long growing season there they do extremely well in those public waters....those locations are evidently perfect for copper nose. Even though TN winters are not severe it is too cold for copper nose. I have several friends who have them stocked in their private bass lakes and they do not have much growth at all....but they are more prolific breeders than our northern strain so they provide a great forage base for their trophy bass. Wish I could help you out.
