Couldn't have said it better. Anyone who've read my posts about catching fish, have seen the variety of soft plastics fish of all species attack that them. The Trout Magnet's are just a shorter version of the Crappie Magnet grub. I always do well with the larger size grub and in most colors offered by Leland (and only because haven't tried all the the new dozen or so colors sent last year that I have yet to cast.)

All of the lures in trypman1's photo work very well when fish are in a chasing mood. But the cone-tail grub he showed is IMHO one of the best for suspending fish, many just hanging out to ambush lures that happen to pass their way.

Again, it's not the Magnet's split tail that's key. It's the cone shape that has its own unique action when twitched, size not nearly as important IMHO.

Here's a Crappy Magnet tail fused to a grub body of a different lure:


Other than lure design, do yourself a favor and try 1/32 and 1/16 oz unpainted ball head jigs. IMO they allow for the perfect presentation that fits this tail design - split or not.
