Default Keeping perch in a barrel?

Today I caught about 10 perch while goofing off at the lake. I have a 50 gallon barrel full of well water that has a fish tank air pump on it for keeping minnows in. It is empty right now and was wondering how long I can keep perch in it or will they die real quick?

If they are in the shade and aireated they should be fine for several days. We keep a bunch this way for catfish bait every summer. If they stay long enough to dirty the water it may need changed.:D

if da barrel is empty, as you say it is, (no water) they will probably flip-flop around for just a short time before they DIE! hehehe seriously tho, i have kept them in a minnow bucket tied to the pier for at least a week- no problem, good walleye and pike bait. just freshen up the water occasionally.

    Default Ive got 4 barrels

    :D :D :D :D but I have crawdads in mine.
IF you only put 1-2 fish in each barrel and then add some elodea(water plants) they will put oxygen in the water. Since its summer you also want your barrel where it gets no sun at all. We dont have elodea naturally any place close here or I would have lots of critters in dem barrels.
