    Killer bait for panfish.

I generally use a ball head 1/32 oz #8 or even #6 Lil' Nasty or sickle when I use them.
I don't want to hijack, but I have to say that I used the Itty Bitty Swimmers this past Sunday. Crappie were the fish and Monkey milk was the color. Also used some Eclipse. They are super! 1/64 #8 sickle. 35 and was home before noon. I have to go this week and find the Cracker beds I have heard of, and I know what I'm pitching at them.

Shellcrackers will change their attitude over the course of the year.Sometimes they are going to need a red worm or other live bait like that on the bottom. And they will have a little bit of a different attitude from one body of water to another so you have to tweak things a little sometimes to your conditions. But when they are bedding, and prespawn, and a few other times a year when they decide to get aggressive you can clean their clock with a variety of jigs. You just try to bump it into them. I have caught a lot with twister tail grubs, swimmin minnows, tube jigs. I have caught a lot on a 1/32 oz road runner head with a southern pro scale head tube though so don't overlook it. They eat mostly underwater snails and small mussels. So sometimes you're imitating food with a red worm ( sorta like a snail without the shell) or you're relying on the times when they get aggressive and will smack a jig.

They like crappie nibbles on the jigs....a lot.

How were you fishing them on the 1/64th oz skeetbum? I cast the 1/32 oz, and had some 1/16 #8 and #6 sickles made so I could use them on a 12' jig pole. I use them for crappie, shellcrackers, and bluegill on my home lake quite a bit.

After reading Alphahawk's posts about the light tackle he's been using, I set up a few 2lb outfits. The mono doesn't cast them very far but it's far enough. I have one that has 2lb Nanofil and the casting is just great. Better than anything I've ever used. And it's tough enough to land a 3 1/2 lb catfish. It also has no abrasion resistance so a 4' long 4lb clear leader is needed. I can cast some really small stuff. I have a post on the FL board called Hammer Time that tells of my Granddaughter and my trip this past Sunday.
It keeps me busier than ever.

I bought some trout magnets but the package says panfish magnets. Are they the same? Trout Magnet Panfish Magnet Kit (85-Piece) | eBay

The body is same but the hook has a longer shank than the Trout Magnet jig head.

They package the large count trout magnet packages in the same package as the small count crappie/panfish magnets. White label on the back of package will tell you the color, count & body type inside. I ordered a 50pc trout magnet body that came in the 15count crappie magnet package straight from their site.
