Here's the syringe. The paste in it is soft and pushes thru very easily, but nibbles wont push thru at all.

PS. This paste works great in cold water conditions. Nibbles dont ( for me ).

    Wink You're right Chaunc ...

If not, dont waste your nibbles as you wont be able to get them back out. I'll post a picture of the syringe i tried using later.
but, I was just going to do the test for the benefit of any doubters

I even have a "Bait Pistol" ... won it in a Crappie tourney ... never been out of the package :p but, it may see some action "this" year. Got a bottle of Crappie Nibbles (char) that's been riding around in the tackle box, for a couple of years. May have to put them both to work, and see what happens.
Shoot man, I've got so many new things to try, I may not have enough fishing time to use my "favorites" ... LOL!! But, at least this year, I'll have more than every other weekend to even think about going !! Weather permitting, of course :D
You take care, man ................ luck2ya ... cp

If you know anyone in the medical field have them get you a 30cc or a 60cc syringe and you can make your own, ask them to put a ( neddleless ) tip on the end and you have one.

Exclamation OK ... CN/OS test is complete .... Surprise results

They would probably work fine with paste, but it may be a bit difficult to extrude a "Nibble" thru one. I've got Nibbles, and access to the oral syringes ... so I'll test it for you. I'll get back to you, on the results, by the middle of next week. ...... cp
Crappie Nibbles/Oral Syringe (5ml size) ... tested as promised.
    Results :

Wouldn't you know it .... it actually WORKED
The nibbles were placed into the syringe barrel, about 8 of them, then the plunger was replaced into the barrel. Holding the syringe pointing straight up, so as to allow the air inside the barrel to escape first, I forced the plunger into the barrel until the Nibbles were mashed into the cap end. With a push of the plunger, the Nibbles started extruding from the nozzle. I then proceeded to put the nozzle into the hollow of a 1.5" tube, and filled it with Nibble "paste". Convinced that this experiment could be duplicated, with the same results, I concluded the test as a success ... per se.

It is a little cumbersome, and tedious, to have to use a toothpick to remove the "leftover" Nibble paste from the barrel ... when you want to add more Nibbles. And, you have to insure that there's no air trapped between the Nibbles and the plunger head, before trying to extrude the contents. If you don't get the air out ... the pressure needed, to extrude the Nibbles, is far greater than if there is no air. (that's why I cleared the syringe of all contents, before adding more Nibbles, between tests)
I would also recommend having a "cap" for the syringe, in order to insure that the Nibbles didn't dry out and clog the tip. Or else, remove all contents from the syringe, and return it to the Nibbles jar.

This experiment/test is, in no way, a negative reflection on the Bait Pump, or Bait Pistol .... and was not intended as such. It was only conducted to prove or disprove the idea that a oral syringe "could" be used to extrude Crappie Nibbles into a hollow tube jig body. I can only conclude, from the limited amount of testing done, that it is possible to do so. Take the results at face value ........... luck2ya ... cp

    Default What?

No pictures. Show us the syringe size you used. Was it plastic like the one i tried? I'm still trying to find a way to get nibbles in my shad lures.

I had a feeling that was going to be brought up :D ... and yes, I did consider taking pics to document the experiment. I just didn't have any idea that it "would" work, or that it would go so smoothly & quickly ... so I didn't even bother to have my camera handy :o
I can certainly recreate the experiment, and document the equipment used. I'll do that, later on tonight or tomorrow morning. But, to answer your immediate questions ...
syringe size ? - as stated in the previous post : "Crappie Nibbles/Oral Syringe (5ml size) ... tested as promised." (that's 5ml, or 1tsp liquid capacity)
was it plastic ? - yes, brown/amber (light resistant) plastic

I used the 5ml size, primarily because it has a centered exit tip. I have a 10ml & a 20ml syringe, but both of them have off centered exit tips, and I wasn't sure if they would work as well. I got them just in case the smaller (5ml) syringe wouldn't create enough pressure to extrude the Nibbles ... but, declined to even try them, once the smaller one worked.
All equipment necessary, was a 5ml plastic oral syringe - Nibbles - toothpick.
I even have a small jar of silver metalflake, which I will be using in the next phase of experimentation ... to see if adding it to the Nibbles, will create a problem with extrusion, or not. Stay tuned ... the game is still afoot :p

    Exclamation OS/CN test pictures ...

The ingredients ...... Nibbles - oral syringe - toothpick

Nibbles rolled into a ball & placed inside syringe ...

Syringe plunger compressed to expel air and push Nibbles to exit tip ...

Plunger compressed - Nibble extrusion begins ...

    Nibble extrusion extended ....

Nibble extrusion removed from tip - core removal begun with toothpick

    Core removal complete ...

BPS tube jig placed on syringe tip - to show that it fits

    Note:
Chartreuse dot, at tip of BPS tube, is Nibble extrusion leaking thru hook hole in head of tube .... I used a previously rigged tube, for the experiment, and the jighead's retainer (collar spike) and hook had left a hole in the head of the tube.

That concludes this phase of the test. The addition of metalflake to the Nibbles, will be phase 2 ... to see if the metal flakes interfere with the extrusion process. ........... cp
