Take a kid fishing start a new friendship with nature.
Merrits Mill pond in north Florida has some stud Shellcrackers in it. There is another plantation in north Florida as well but the name escapes me right now. If I can find it I will check back.
Got it, Bienville Plantation. Had to call a buddy that told me about it. Managed for trophy bass but has some stud bream in it.
Just be warned, Bienville Plantation is PROUD of their place $$$$$$$$$$$
A lot of these "pay to fish" places are. Richmond Mill Lake in NC has gotten a lot of press, and you can fish it for just $600 a day!
Packages and Pricing at The King Fisher Society
Callaway Gardens here in GA was excellent for big gills, but I've heard it has gone down hill. (I haven't fished it in years.)
That's a party of 4 fishermen for $600 each. $2400 total per day. WOW
You could book a trip to Lake Havasu - Havasu City has rentals, hotels, casinos & guides.
Previously mentioned Lake Perris, Lake Skinner, (haven't fished yet - been closed for 7 years) San Vicente are public lakes with pretty good panfish.....
When I was a kid, my dad got us invited to on a blue gill trip near Evergreen, Alabama. There were about five boats IIRC and we caught literally hundreds. And several of those were darn big (2-3 lbs). I can't remember who owned the place. but I'll ask dad - if for nothing else maybe I can get back over there. It was a big pond -probably 75 acres and had a usable ramp.
The St. Johns river from Astor to about Green Cove springs area has some fine Copperheads and Shellcrackers as well. Harris Chain in Leesburg has some stud shellcrackers too. Thats where that Mays feller on youtube is fishing. Just around the bend from Slabs house.
