Bad species seeing as how fast they multiply which happens because of multiple spawns in the year. My local lake is overpopulated with them, and coupled with the idiotic 3600 weed eating carp that were introduced five years ago, a death knell to crappie, y. perch and bass spawns. White perch are the first to spawn in early spring and then hang out while each species spawns just waiting to raid the nests and eat the fry.

Too bad my fishing club is too proud to fish for pan fish and take out as many white perch as possible in their tournaments. Years ago my partner and I weighed in over 50 lbs of white perch alone, never thinking this was going to become a very undesirable species to have in our lake.
