I've never tried it with small jigs. I rarely have deep-hooking issues with even the tiniest jigs (1/80 - 1/100.)

I think they would still work on small jigs, though.

Another thing to consider is mashing the barb down. It's much easier to remove the hook, and you'll still land 99% of your fish. Lefty Kreh (famous fly fisherman) once did a demo on barbless hooks. He hooked a bass on a barbless fly, laid his rod down for about a minute, then picked up the rod again and landed the fish.
