I remember using hot dogs as a kid, never thought of trying them again.
I was introduced to fishing using a cane pole and bread. Sunbeam bread, made into tiny nuggets, caught me gill after gill with my Grandad at Lake of the Ozarks. The fish would inhale it like it was their last meal, they liked it so much...wonder what I would have caught if I added slim jims to the mix?
Have not heard of this one, but will try it for sure
I use bread almost exclusively now. Most of the smaller lakes around my area are full of ducks and feed them bread. The Bluegill, Carp and sometimes cats come up and eat them too. Instead of buying $3 can of worms, I just get a 97 cent bag of bread.
I also feed the fish in my pond bread. I usually take a whole loaf down there and feed them. It takes them about 3 minutes for them to start eating it, but after they start, they don't stop
I feed mine sweet rolls, bread sticks, biscuits and sliced bread. They get a handful of floating catfish food too, but they prefer the bread and rolls. I roll some soft
bread into small balls and throw them in the pond and all sizes gobble 'em up. A small hook on ultra lite tackle is a blast for catching a mess.
FYI- a #10 hook with a chartreuse or other color crappie nibble or 2, will catch every bream in the pond. They have to hit it. Including red ears & cats. Under cork or spinning.
yep a crappie nibble on a number 8 or 10 is a dun deal ....I like wigglers on a 1/64 jighead myself ......never used a slim jim ....
but sunnies will eat darn near anything that hits the water sometimes ....
